Budget Watch Collecting

I started to collect budget watches in 2020. It is a fairly recent experience for me. I enjoy the treasure hunting aspects of buying a large lot of watches and going through them to see what I have. I will usually resell the ones that I am not interested in via online stores such as Etsy or eBay. Reselling wristwatches is one of my micro-busineses and an important lever in my longterm investing strategy.

My favorite watch that I have encountered so far is my 1965 Timex Viscount. I received this watch in a lot of watches that I purchsed online. It was horribly dirty and looked like it could not be saved when I recvieved it. All of the work that I put into this watch made me realize that I needed to be making videos about how I "restore" these budget watches. If you want to learn more about vintage Timex watches, check out this website that schooled me on vintage Timex watches.

I did not get video of this watch as I worked to clean it up and have been kicking myself for that. Check out the video below.

I make several videos about changing watch batteries. It is amazing how much easier things are to perform when you have the proper tools. I am by no means a watch expert and I still make some mistakes, but having the proper tools can save your watcha nd your hands/fingers. I get a few Timex Ironman watches in and change the batteries and clean those up. I really like Timex Ironman watches. The video below is a 2004 Ironman watch battery change.

Sometimes I make videos about these really cool vintage watches that no one else seems to care about. Here is a very cool vintage Seiko Yacht Timer watch. It was rumored that the NASA astronauts used these types of watches in the 1980s.

I am still making more videos, so please check back often for updates. While you are at it, click the subscribe button on one of my videos and click the little bell to be notified when I publish a new video.

Gear

I know many people are interested in gear. I use this inexpensive watch tool kit to help me work on these watches. I also use this watch press to help press on backs. I thought that maybe this was going to be overkill, but it turned out to be totally worth the low cost.

I also have two main 3d printers at this time. I have a Creality Ender 3 and a Tevo Tornado. If you are looking to buy your first 3d printer, I would highly suggest you get a Creality Ender 3. The Creality Ender 3 is a very popular 3d printer that has been around for quite siome time. The printer is a great kit to get you started printing the day it ships to your house. There are so many videos available for this printer to help you figure out any issues you may run into.

I also have a few pieces of main gear that I use to make Youtube videos. First, I use my iPhone for a lot of impromptu fixit videos. If I have something more in depth, I will use my DJI Osmo action. If I am doing a special project or just sitting at my desk, I will use my Sony A6300. That Sony is an amazing camera. I even splurged and purchased the Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens. I use the Sigma mainly for fixed video type situations. I also purchased the Tamron 24-200mm for an all around carry lens. Check my projects page for more details on my photo adventures. If I am snapping shots of my family or taking video on trips, this is my go to camera. The quality is just amazing.
