Welcome! We are glad you stopped by! We will make this quick, you know, like an elevator speech! Although that would be incredibly rude if we cornered you in an elevator and forced you to listen to our story while you impatiently tried to get to your floor. Who really does that?
Anyway, Rick has a passion for all things small business, he loves entrepreneurship so much he studied the subject at Ball State Univerisity in the years before electricity was invented. Here you can learn about Rick and the latest projects that are taking up all of his attention at this very minute. Rick specializes in DIY videos and has a strong interest in photo/video and general nerdery. A geek at heart, Rick is dedicated family man and a father of six kids. He is scared to death that his kids will not pickup the DIY bug and he will be travelling around the rest of his life fixing all of their stuff!
Ok, enough of that third person vernacular. That is the stuff they will teach you in business coaching courses! First, let's get to the why... Why did you make your own YouTube channel? Is it becuase you love yourself so much that you love seeing yourself on a screen? Actually, no, that is not the case. It is very difficult to watch myself. I am my own worst critic and I know I can always do better. This question is probably best answered with a brief video.
This is the reason why I make videos...
I really enjoy editing videos in Davinci Resolve and iMovie. I love to put on the headphones and get lost in the process of editing. If I have a quick tip video to get out, I will often just pull out my iPhone and start filming, I will then edit that video in iMovie. If I have a more interesting project, I could spend days and days editing the project with Davinci Resolve. I am by the way, not an expert in any software, I only know enough to be extremely dangerous!
Want to get started making videos of your own? I have two unsolicited pieces of advice, first - make an outline of the story you want to tell before you even start filming. Second, I highly suggest you read this short book. I promise you it is not my kindle book :) . The book I recommend is a quick read and full of valuable nuggets that will make you a better video story teller.

I know many people are interested in gear. I have a few pieces of main gear that I use to make Youtube videos. First, I use my iPhone for a lot of impromptu fixit videos. If I have something more in depth, I will use my DJI Osmo action. If I am doing a special project or just sitting at my desk, I will use my Sony A6300. That Sony is an amazing camera. I even splurged and purchased the Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens. I use the Sigma mainly for fixed video type situations. I also purchased the Tamron 24-200mm for an all around carry lens. Check my projects page for more details on my photo adventures. If I am snapping shots of my family or taking video on trips, this is my go to camera. The quality is just amazing.
